The Western European region will continue to offer many opportunities for growth in 2005 and in particular around mobility, consumer developments and EU expansion. "The announcement at the end of the year of IBM's intentions to sell its PC business to Chinese player Lenovo outlines, however, the challenges that the industry faces in finding effective business models as competition will remain fierce and prices are not expected to turn upwards within the next 12 months," said Karine Paoli, Research Director for IDC's European Personal Computing team.
