Review PublishAmerica / An Ocean 'Tail'  Publication date: 2003-09-29
Price: $24.95

Review An Ocean 'Tail'  / PublishAmerica:

This is a story about Little Fish, who, after being born, is unhappy with his tail. He decides he needs to find a new tail and sets off into the coral reef to find something “more suitable. ” He tries a variety of the animals in the coral reef on as tails, but each one is not suitable because of that animal’s particular characteristics. For example, the seaweed does not work because it is “as slippery as a baby in bathwater” and won’t stay on. Being a teacher of third graders, I knew I wanted a lesson or moral, so I chose, “Accept yourself for who and what you are. ” Little Fish discovers this by the end of the story. At the end of the book there is a short section that gives factual information about coral reefs and the animals that inhabit them.
