Review Comparative Analysis of SEE Countries with Respect to Offshore Outsourcing, Part 2 / IDC Research:

In the second of a three-part study of 12 countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), IDC has developed a comprehensive and in-depth framework to evaluate individual countries' readiness and suitability for technological and business process outsourcing. The data and results of this study are intended to help both end users (large enterprises and SMEs) as well as IT and business service providers gain a clearer picture of the suitability of individual countries in the region as a source location for different types of technological and business process outsourcing. This study analyzes 4 Southeastern European countries with regard to the following five factors: Resources Skill Economic and Political Infrastructure Business and Regional Financial The study profiles each country based on quantitative data relating to the above five categories for the years 2003 and 2004 (where data is available and relevant; data relating to education includes 2002), and offers a qualitative analysis of the data. In addition, this study provides a comparative analysis between the countries, and with Ireland. Data on Ireland is provided for comparison as the country is considered a mature provider of outsourced services in Europe, and thus serves as a benchmark for European offshore/nearshore outsourcing. "Moving business operations offshore is enabling companies to expand their access to human resources and lower costs. Such firms should consider Southeastern European countries which offer a highly-skilled, multilingual resource pool and lower operating costs than Western countries. " – Vladimir Kroa, Program Manager, IDC CEMA.

Review Croatia Copiers 2005-2009 Forecast and 2004 Shares / IDC Research:

This study quantifies the Croatian analog copier and digital copier markets in detail, and analyzes market trends and outlook. It contains IDC's forecast for the Croatian copier market for the years 2005 through 2009. Unit shipments, value of shipments, and average selling price information is presented. An analysis of the 2004 market is provided, with unit and value market shares by technology and speed class, when applicable. Color inkjet copiers do not form part of the total IDC market sizing for the copier market. "The Croatian copier market is reaching maturity and offers limited opportunities for vendors to increase sales. Still, the ongoing transitions in the market – from analog to digital technology, from single-function copiers to networked, multifunction devices, from black and white to color machines – as well as a focus on value-added services and document solutions can provide vendors with additional sources of revenue in the coming years. Review Croatia Printer 2005-2009 Forecast and 2004 Vendor Shares / IDC Research:

This study discusses the Croatian market for electronic printers – inkjet, monochrome and color as well as impact and non-impact – used with all levels of computer systems. It does not cover point-of-sale printers or small-format printers featuring widths of less than eight inches. It also does not cover wide format (A0) products, sometimes known as plotters. The forecasts contain data for the Croatian printer market from 2005 through 2009. Unit shipment, value of shipments, and average selling price (ASP) information is presented. Data for 2003-2004 is actual, whereas data for 2005-2009 is projected. "The printer market in Croatia should decline slightly over the coming five years as a result of the ongoing shift from single to multifunction devices. Still, opportunity remains in certain segments. With the increased adoption of color and continuous price cuts on this technology, the color printer market will remain the hotspot for shipments and revenue growth. "Slovakia is moving forward, not only in IT maturity, but as an innovator in the areas of reform and a envy in the area of FDI. The increasing maturity of the Slovak IT market means the greater importance of IT services. This is having a positive impact on markets such as systems integration, application consulting and customization, IT consulting, and even outsourcing as customers seek to maximize performance and efficiency of their IT investments. In this environment, however, competition among providers has intensified and local players have started feeling the sting after years of having a firm position on the market, as the recent mergers and acquisitions demonstrate. This IDC study provides detailed analysis, conclusions, and forecasts regarding the dynamics of Egypt's evolving market for personal computers. Our 2004 figures and analysis are based on information gathered from interviews with the leading IT companies (vendors, distributors, assemblers, system integrators, value-added resellers, and dealers) in the markets. "With the improvement in the Egyptian economy, demand for PCs in the consumer and corporate segments will grow slightly in 2005. Spending will nonetheless be limited in the consumer market due to high unemployment and low wages in the country, while demand in the government and education sectors will help buoy the PC market in 2005.
