Review IT Budget Indicators: U.S. End-User Survey, 3Q04 / IDC Research:

This IDC study presents results from our 3Q04 end-user survey of 414 U. S. organizations. Respondents were asked to identify IT spending plans in relation to budget increases for the coming 12 months, priority solution areas, drivers/inhibitors, infrastructure replacement/upgrades, and application-related activity. "As the pent-up demand for infrastructure upgrades begins to recede by the second half of 2005, it will be gradually replaced by an uptick in project-based services and solutions in addition to new application sales. Business intelligence, wireless networking, VoIP, and IT security will be key growth sectors. " — Stephen Minton, program director, Worldwide IT Markets.

Review Extended Enterprise Learning: A CLO Study / IDC Research:

This IDC study examines the practice of extending corporate learning beyond the organization's four walls to channels and other customer value chain partners. IDC, in conjunction with Chief Learning Officer Magazine, conducted a survey of the magazine's Business Intelligence Board composed of chief learning officers and senior learning executives in October 2004. Among the key findings presented in this study are the following: Those that do offer extended enterprise learning train an average of 100 outside organizations. Thirty-three percent of organizations that offer learning to the extended enterprise charge for the training. Sixty-seven percent make it a mandatory requirement for participation in the channel program. "Companies should extend learning beyond their four walls to their channel partners and customers, as doing so can have a profound effect on partner and customer satisfaction," said Lisa Rowan, program manager for HR Management and Staffing Services at IDC. "But in terms of the percentage of firms offering extended enterprise learning, the practice has not yet reached mainstream adoption. It is also clear from this study that the greatest opportunity for progress is in assessing the impact of learning, as the majority are not yet measuring beyond the usual learning satisfaction metrics. ".

Review Worldwide Collaborative Product Development Applications 2005-2009 Forecast: A First Look at a Strong 2004 / IDC Research:

This IDC study provides a top-down sizing of the collaborative product development applications market in 2004 and a 2005–2009 forecast for this market. Spending for CPD applications will increase as manufacturers in industrialized countries rely on automation software to maintain their competitiveness through innovation and faster time to market. Another market driver will be manufacturing sites that are setting up operations in lower-wage countries. Gisela Wilson, director of Product Life-Cycle Management, explains, "Opportunities for software providers in the CPD applications market are improving as manufacturing companies are investing again in IT software and hardware. However, there is no doubt that application providers will have to be able to deal with two very different markets: the manufacturing market in the industrialized world with demand for complex planning applications and integrated product suites and the market in the industrializing world with demand for specific standalone tools. ".

List Price: $4,500.00
Price: $4,500.00

Review Worldwide Data Integration Software 2003 Vendor Analysis / IDC Research:

This IDC study focuses on the data integration market, which is one of the most interesting and volatile software markets today. Why? Knowledge is power. Data integration software facilitates the generation of knowledge by bringing together data from distributed, heterogeneous data sources to serve the processes that generate the knowledge. In doing so it: Provides an integrated view of data. Such a view may be in support of data usage beyond that governing the creation and maintenance of the data in its source. The primary business benefit is a unified view of organizational information for business analytics and decision making. Allows multiple applications to behave cooperatively and harmoniously. This is typically done using a messaging strategy whereby a consolidated resource queue publishes common messages to which consumers of the queue can subscribe. The primary business benefit is a higher level of customer service and improved operational efficiency. Achieves development efficiencies within IT shops. [+]
It does this by reducing the number of data sources with which the shops' staffs must be familiar for both new development and maintenance. An additional benefit would be faster development (i. e. , shorter project lengths). The market for data integration will always be with us, just as data will always be with us. Currently, this market is a collection of many niche players in such submarkets as extract, transform, and load (ETL); data replication; data quality; and data profiling. Through mergers and acquisitions, this collection of vendors is rapidly converging and coalescing into a smaller group of larger data integration vendors that are offering or plan to offer more complete solutions for data integration. At the moment, Informatica, Ascential and DataFlux are battling for the lead. Big vendors such as IBM, Oracle, and SAP are also interested in this market. "Data is fundamental and data volume worldwide continues to expand rapidly," said Steve McClure, a research vice president in IDC's Software Research Group. "The amount and types of data are proliferating rapidly. Almost every corporation in the world that has been in business for more than nine months needs to perform some form of data integration. To do it efficiently and effectively, companies will need to look at the products offered in this market. ".

Review Worldwide and U.S. CRM Services 2005-2009 Forecast and Analysis / IDC Research:

This IDC study presents the annual update to the five-year forecast for the worldwide and U. S. market for CRM services. The purpose of this document is to identify and quantify the impact of recent trends and events influencing the CRM services opportunity through year-end 2004 and their impact on the five-year forecast. Particular attention is paid to the near-term years: 2004, 2005, and 2006. This document answers the following questions: What are IDC's predictions and assumptions relating to market forces affecting the worldwide CRM services market, and what impact will they have on the market forecasts for the next five years? Which assumptions are of sufficient importance that a change in the assumption would result in a change in the market forecasts? What impact will developments in this industry have on the players in the market? How might the developments predicted in this market affect the revenue of the players? "In light of the current economic climate, opportunities are increasingly emerging within the worldwide and U. S. CRM services marketplace. Review Worldwide and U.S. HR Management Services 2005-2009 Forecast / IDC Research:

This IDC study examines the competitive landscape and provides a five-year forecast for the worldwide and U. S. HR services market. In 2004, the economy showed further signs of recovery, although the growth in HR services in the United States did not grow as dramatically in 2004 as it did in 2003. This is largely due to the fact that 2002 was a very slow year for HR services in the United States because of the events of 9/11 and the resulting market rebound in 2003. "The worldwide market for HR services showed moderate growth in 2004, although the market has seen some consolidation," said Lisa Rowan, program manager for HR Management and Staffing Services at IDC. "HR service providers have an opportunity to grow their businesses through the pursuit of several strategies, including expanding their offerings to encompass workforce optimization capabilities, delivering meaningful HR metrics, and simplifying their pricing models. This IDC study is based on detailed telephone interviews conducted with senior IT buyers and decision makers in 50 large firms (more than 1,000 employees) in the United States during the third quarter of 2005. Respondents were asked to qualify their intentions regarding IT spending, budget allocations, ongoing projects, infrastructure upgrades, application purchasing, and communications investment. "In a downside economic scenario, some of the spending plans that large firms have in place for 2006 surrounding new applications and solutions may become subject to delays and postponement. The bulk of spending anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2005, however, is unlikely to see a major impact barring the worst-case scenarios relating to oil prices and consumer spending. This IDC study analyzes the U. S. prepaid phone card market by sizing the complete prepaid revenue opportunity today and growth potential in the next five years. Using primary IDC research and secondary market data, this study provides key industry metrics detailing prepaid card penetration, usage, consumer demand characteristics, service provider market share, and growth trends. This study also analyzes competitive strategies of leading prepaid phone card providers. "After a decade of rapid market expansion, future growth in the U. S. prepaid phone card market can no longer be sustained by selling ever more cheap prepaid phone cards. SBC's and Verizon's respective acquisitions of AT&T and MCI during the first quarter of 2005 will further shake up competition in the prepaid phone card market. To survive, service providers must learn how to extend existing consumer relationships to gain a bigger share of the consumer prepaid budget. [+]
