Review U.S. IT Budget Indicators: Large Enterprise Survey, 3Q05 / IDC Research:This IDC study is based on detailed telephone interviews conducted with senior IT buyers and decision makers in 50 large firms (more than 1,000 employees) in the United States during the third quarter of 2005. Respondents were asked to qualify their intentions regarding IT spending, budget allocations, ongoing projects, infrastructure upgrades, application purchasing, and communications investment. "In a downside economic scenario, some of the spending plans that large firms have in place for 2006 surrounding new applications and solutions may become subject to delays and postponement. The bulk of spending anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2005, however, is unlikely to see a major impact barring the worst-case scenarios relating to oil prices and consumer spending. " — Stephen Minton, vice president, IDC Worldwide IT Markets.

Review Worldwide Router 2005-2009 Forecast / IDC Research:This IDC study forecasts the worldwide router market for 2005–2009, showing growth in revenue and shipments and changes in average price for the total router market and by sectors. A forecast for worldwide sales of wireless routers is included. The document also breaks out worldwide router revenue by major geographic regions. "We now see a significant upturn in the worldwide router market, with the potential for steady growth in service provider routers and to a lesser extent enterprise routers throughout the forecast period. The revival in the enterprise space is largely propelled by the potential for new router models based on value-added modules, which we think will displace installed routers at many companies. Review Worldwide IP PBX 2005-2009 Forecast and Analysis / IDC Research:This IDC study presents our forecast of the worldwide IP PBX market for 2004–2009. The total worldwide IP PBX market will grow to more than $8. 9 billion in 2009, a CAGR of more than 23%. Including IP telephones, the market will exceed $10. 9 billion in 2009, a CAGR of more than 19%. "It would be foolish to fail to respond to the IP PBX groundswell. Traditional PBXs continue to be sold, to be sure, but it will be increasingly difficult to make a profit in selling them. Unfortunately, laggards in entering the IP space will find it particularly difficult to adopt the IP PBX mentality, which may mean having to drop out of enterprise telephony entirely. " — Paul Strauss, research manager, Enterprise Networks.
