Book Details Summary

Sienna Diaz is everyone’s favorite “fat” funny lady. The movie studio executives can’t explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood’s most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna.
But she has a problem, she can’t read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when Sienna’s latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park she finds herself continually lost while trying to navigate the backroads of Green Valley, Tennessee. Much to her consternation, Sienna’s most frequent savior is a ridiculously handsome, charming, and cheeky Park Ranger by the name of Jethro Winston.
Sienna is accustomed to high levels of man-handsome, so it’s not Jethro’s chiseled features or his perfect physique that make Sienna stutter. It’s his southern charm. And gentlemanly manners. And habit of looking at her too long and too often.
Sienna has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Hollywood heart-throbs. But can she traverse the tenuous trails of Tennessee without losing her head? Or worse, her heart?

  • Laugh out loud funny

I found this author on a whim and read the first book in the Winston brothers series. And laughed and laughed. I love that while there’s conflict with secondary characters it doesn’t make the main characters lose sense. My biggest pet peeve with romance novels are how most characters just don’t say what they are feeling and conflict happens over some stupid and easily prevented if you just said what’s on your mind. Penny doesn’t do that and I absolutely adore her for that. It makes for a story about 2 people against the world rather than two people against each other. And she starts every chapter with a quote. Great quotes and I love her for that as well.

Sigh. I kinda want to cry now that I really have read every single Penny book that's out. I hate that this is over for now. I enjoyed every second of my Penny binge and kinda want to do it all over again. This book was so good. I laughed a lot, I even cried at a couple of spots, and it was an all around feel good novel. I can't wait for more of the Winston boys. We get little insights in to the other brothers that just makes us anticipate their books even more. I'm soooo ready for Cletus' book and I have a good idea of who will be his woman.

Another winner from Penny Reid. I enjoyed this book and was again happy to get more background on the Winston Brothers. Cletus appears in this book more than the other brothers or Ashley which is fine because I love Cletus! Getting more backstory on Jethro was good though I was once again irritated at Billy, as I had been in Beauty and the Mustache, for being such a jerk to his siblings. The dynamic here, famous actress and a nobody with a questionable past was interesting and the storyline was well done. Looking forward to book 3, Cletus’ book.

Grin and Beard It by Penny Reid is the second book in her Winston Brothers series. Yet another completely wonderful insight into the lives of these hot as hell manly men in the mountains of Tennessee. Good Lord they are all swoon-worthy, Jethro's book is absolutely no disappointment, it exceeded expectations in fact. The beauty of this is it isn't JUST Jethro and Sienna's story, we get so much of the other brothers and peripheral characters, the scene setting is so rich and visual but NOT overdone. Between Cletus and his quirks, Billy and his grudge and Roscoe and his impish innocence... I mean, how do you pick a favorite? Well, you don't, at least, I don't, I claim them all. EVERY SINGLE ONE! The story flows smoothly, never rushed, never lagging, it's told more like you are there observing and are part of it all. I love Penny's writing style and this book was just as fabulous as all the others. Again, I claim no favorite, I claim all.

I for one, am sick of reading/listening to the cookie-cutter romance novels that include "dark" billionaires/tortured childhoods/angst caused by lies and subterfuge that I want to scream at the entire genre. Can we not endeavor to enlighten ourselves with unique non-"Pretty Woman"esque characters and a higher form of dialogue that uplifts or mentality instead of lowering our IQ? This feels as though it is the beginning of a speech for revolution or call to all writers. Wow, I feel like Winston Churchill. Look, all I wanted to say was that the first of the Winston brother's books was unique and wonderful as was Beauty and the Mustache but with Grin and Beard It Penny Reid brought the whole series to a new level. A level was created,a new shelf added to which the rest should aspire because Jethro and Sienna's story was supercalofragelistickexpialodoches. I would invent a word but would want to convey the exponential fullness of this book. Sienna's part as well as Jethro's are rich with humor and honesty that will strike a chord with middle of America's boring old reader. You know the ones. The ones that have regular lives with regular (if not fantastic in their own ways) folk. I'm one of those people and am totally charmed by Jethro and am having a Book Boyfriend affair (since I'm married) with him. There, I said it. And now I'm going to hell. Oh well. This is high praise for the book seeing as how I don't mind going to hell for Jethro. Back to the review. The book is good- buy it, read it, re-read it, love it.

What a wonderful, romantic read! I fell in love with Sienna and Jethro and would have happily read on and on about their story. Penny Reid continues to amaze me with her funny and smart characters. I would recommend ALL of her books! You won't be disappointed.

Jethro was amazingly sweet throughout this tale. He was hard headed at time but only had the best intentions in mind. Sienna is an amazingly strong and independent character. Mix the two and we have instant chemistry. A story filled with passion, chemistry, humor and love. Cletus had a bigger role in this tale. I loved getting a peak at his personality. Can't wait for his story!
