Review Music and Tourism: On the Road Again (Aspects of Tourism) / Multilingual Matters Limited:Music and Tourism is the first book to comprehensively examine the links between travel and music. It combines contemporary and historical analysis of the economic and social impact of music tourism, with discussions of the cultural politics of authenticity and identity. Music tourism evokes nostalgia and meaning, and celebrates both heritage and hedonism. It is a product of commercialisation that can create community, but that also often demands artistic compromise. Diverse case studies, from the USA and UK to Australia, Jamaica and Vanuatu, illustrate the global extent of music tourism, its contradictions and pleasures.

Review Spool knitting / A.S. Barnes:This version of Spool Knitting by Mary A. McCormack comes with illustrations to assist you in creating these fun and entertaining projects. Few elementary exercises have aroused more interest in the child than the toy knitting; due, perhaps, to its simplicity and his power to do it easily and well. To some keen observer the little orb-weaving spider may have suggested this form of occupation. Be this as it may, the child who is a lover of nature will be quick to perceive the strong resemblance he bears to this little insect while at work with his toy knitter, going from post to post just as the insect worked its net in spiral form on his framework of radiating lines. The possibilities of an empty spool and a few pins are almost without limitations. The illustrations here given are merely suggestive of many more that can be worked out along these lines. They are not simply to momentarily attract the child, but to permit of individual growth, and to have him participate in the joy of its ultimate use.

Review Easy Ways to Seasonal Plays: Three Complete Plays with Photocopy Permission / Barnabas:The changing seasons bring with them the important festivals of Christmas, Easter and Harvest. How do we explain their significance to children? This is a question that many primary teachers and people who work with young children in church or playschool ask themselves. A fun way for them to learn is to participate in a seasonal play. This book contains three simple yet effective plays for use with groups of mixed ages. Each play is designed to allow all the children to stay on stage throughout the performance. All the children are involved in the actions, mimes and songs throughout the play. The narrative allows for flexibility in the allocation of speaking parts, with most of the lines designated for older children. Preceding each play is a story narrative, complete with black and white line drawings, designed to be told to the group as an introduction to the play itself. The story is followed by a four or five week countdown to the performance, with hints, activities and scripts for each week running up to the performance.
